In 2009, directors Andrea Paciotto and Luke Leonard were invited by Barefoot Theatre Company to participate in a year long festival called "70/70 Horovitz Project " celebrating the 70th birthday of playwright Israel Horovitz. Paciotto and Leonard selected three plays to produce by Mr. Horovitz and devised a collaborative opportunity for three directors from different countries to each direct one of the plays. The trilogy, The Indian Wants the Bronx (directed by Luke Leonard, United States), Beirut Rocks (directed by Hyunjung Lee, Korea), and What Strong Fences Make (directed by Andrea Paciotto, Italy) was translated into Italian by Andrea Paciotto and premiered on September 6, 2009 at Teatrino Delle Sei in Spoleto, Italy. Subsequent performances have appeared throughout Italy in Trevi, Perugia, Rome, and Milan.
